Criteria D - Evaluating
Criterion D- Evaluating 2/05/2017
Final Reflection
I think making the brochure was fun, since I got to choose a country I visited and liked or one that I would like to visit, and write about it (which made me learn about it's history etc...).
The most thing that I am proud of, while making this brochure, is how it turned out. I really like how it looks neat (kind of) and that it is a little colorful so it catches tourists' attention. I didn't ask my family or/and friends on their opinion on this project, yet.
If I did this project again, I would change the country that I did and I would make it look like an actual brochure instead of one that looks like a draft (even though it isn't). I would also change the information that I put into it because it was a little messy and out of place.
My time schedule for each task we did, was not organised. If I had the chance to use my time again, I would have made an actual table and given each task a certain time to do it in, so I could upload my tasks on time.

Tech Fair 2017
Term 2- Tech Fair Project
Criterion D – Reflection:
We made a video
alerting people about depression, anxiety and self-harm. And how people around
the world self harm them selves… I was able to keep up with the group’s
schedule throughout the time. I worked in a group. In term 1 I didn’t like
working in a group but in term 2, I’m fine with working in a group –
communication with others-.
I noticed that I changed
my strategy of working while doing the tech fair project. I think the IB
learner that I associate with is communication, cause I communicate with the
people in my group, to work.
The Global context
of scientific and technical innovation held good for my project because we were alerting people with this information so they
could look out for their friends and family, and/or close ones.
If I worked on the
project again, I think I would make it make a lot of sense and put less
pictures and make the transitions in the video, slower. I didn’t find the other
projects in my class interesting, but most of the people in my class, didn’t present
their projects.

Design Specification 1/11/2016
Task on Funnel activity. Identifying keywords for specification.
Design Specification:
My product will look like a box like bag, that comes with most of the colors. It is a medium sized bag because it is not big and it is not small, it would be made out of wood and leather to keep the things inside safe. The tools needed for this product are;
Reflection #3:
I drew this because children love saying that they rule something (anything) so I made a syringe that is supposed to look like a royal crown (even though it looks like cheese but children also love cheese) and made it have glitter to attract them more! It has a sign in the middle that says; "This Won't Hurt' so the kids would'nt get scared.
Reflection:
We learnt this so we could make our own 3D producted on our device (an invention) and we learnt how to do this, because we took courses on how to use the 3D website.
We had to work indivually for this project. I understood that 3D was very hard and you would need a 3D printer to have a 3D design on a paper and not on your computer, there are many websites for you to make a 3D printing object. Yes, I was able to find all 25 key-words. I am a visual learner. I was able to find the most needed wordsin the funnel. I would find this useful, because it gives us examples on games and things that can attract an audience.

My Child Friendly Syringe: 8/11/2016
Reflection #1:
I had to use a pencil, a ruler and a few colors. It was challenging because I had to make a perfect circle and not move the ruler to make a straight line. The highlight and idea of my sketch is that most children like candy so I thought; 'hey, why not do something that everybody loves!'
Reflection #2:
We had to draw with pencils but I still haven't colored it yet, it was hard to think of ideas for a child friendly syringe, so I finally thought about a character or animal/pet that everyone loves and I rembered that people used to (or still do) love bunnies. So I made a syringe that has the head of a bunny and a rubber carrot in the right top side in the middle.Reflection #3:

INVENTION IDEA:
Reflection #1:
For this, I tought about the people who love reading at night and arent allowed to open the light, so they could just clip this and open the flash and if they dont understand they can search it up on the stand thingy ( which has buttons to click for a word ) and it will come up on the small sceen at the top.
Reflection #2:
For this; I made a box which has a slot at the top that is big enough for someone to drop their valuables inside, it also has a handprint scanner on the side and a button to project (shows whats inside the box) it.
Reflection #3:
This is a portable projecter and wifi router for people who need to project stuff if they cant see properly, and a wifi router becuase everyone loves wifi. They click the wifi button so it could connect to the nearest device.
Reflection #4:
I thought of this because some girls love putting on nail polish but arent allowed to buy more than 1 color, so I thought about nail polish which has more than 1 color in it. It has a few buttons which you press and it changes the color of the nailpolish, so you could use it anytime and anywhere. It comes with a small box so you could re-fill everytime it finishes.

CRITERION A INQUIRY AND ANALYSIS
3D-PRINTING: 11/10/2016
What is 3D printing?
A process for making a physical object from a three-dimensional digital model.
How does 3D printing work?
You start by cutting the object into tiny pieces,
these layers stick together to make a solid object.
What is the technology behind it?
In some methods they melting or softening materials to produce the layers.
Where would you find 3D printing?
Who would use 3D printing?
This should be helful because it stores people's valiables and they can carry it around by holding the the belt like rope on the sides, or wearing it around their shoulders, instead of holding your stuff.

The UAE Nurses Association claims that one of the most difficult parts of their job is dealing with small children who have a fear of needles. Although the association has some tips and tricks like putting numbing cream to partially freeze the surface of the skin before injecting medicine, sometimes the anxiety levels of small children are so high that it is difficult to get them to hold still. If only there was an easier way to administer medicine within the syringe.

MY DESIGN SITUATION -1 20/10/2016
Some people like reading and just cant fit enough books on one shelf, and sometimes they want more than one book with them when they go out somewhere alone to relax or something. I thought of making a portable book shelf, that moves around with you, wherever you go, whenever you want. I think it will help all bookworms (people that love reading) in carrying their books around. Also it would be a great thing for schools to give to their students so instead of always holding too many books or going to your lockers every second. And if they carry their bags they can just get this shelf instead since it wont be that heavy as the bag.
The shelf can be helpful because most teenagers these days are too lazy to carry their books around and always want for something that they could walk around with freely without anything heavy on their backs; something they could drag. But since we aren't allowed to drag our bags along with us to our classes, we can use these shelves instead to carry our stuff.

MY DESIGN SITUATION -2 20/10/2016
People like having their most needed objects with them wherever they go and whenever, but sometimes they dont have anything to store these things in, when they go out (and also have it with them) so I thought about making a small bag/box which has a handprit scanner on the side and a button which you press ( a projecter) so it can show you everything inside the box and there is another button under it which opens the box for you to get your stuff out! There is a slot at the top of the box where you can drop anything you want into the box, and there is a smaller slot beside it where you drop your devices and it goes into a pocket so they wont break!
This should be helful because it stores people's valiables and they can carry it around by holding the the belt like rope on the sides, or wearing it around their shoulders, instead of holding your stuff.

Design Brief: 18/11/2016
I was thinking of making a product that helps people carry thir things around. I am aiming this product at people from all ages, since this is a problem going throwing lots of people. I will use TinkerCad!
I want to make this product because, even I struggle with carrying my things around.

Term 1 Design 2016-17
Introduction: 08/09/2016
My name is Zeina El Nady, I'm excited about starting The Design Class in year 8, and learning about new things in all three terms.
Last year I was a Risk Taker because I was the one who had to speak in class when we worked in groups/pairs, and I'm usually not up to that task because I get shy easily. This year I'm going to try to be a communicator because last year it was hard for me to ask the teacher if I don't understand anything but this year I think it would not be that hard to ask the teacher.
I don't think there are any softwares I would like to find out better about because I think I know a lot... But it would be nice to know more!!
